Key Objectives of CPR-BEAMS
Maintaining and Enhancing Long-Term Observation Systems
- Continue funding to preserve and grow the multi-decadal CPR survey databases in the Northwest Atlantic.
- Focus on monitoring long-term changes in pelagic communities and maintaining the CPR sample archive, including microbial and metazoan data.
- Ensure strict quality control, improve logistical and analytical skills, and enhance statistical modeling and data processing capabilities.
Supporting Core Marine Ecological Research
- Establish a working group with access to the full CPR dataset to explore ecological questions related to plankton variability along the Z route and its broader implications for ecosystem services and fisheries.
- Organize meetings that focus on using CPR data to assess plankton dynamics and their impact on marine ecosystems
Sharing Data and Providing Training Workshops
- Continue collaboration with U.S. researchers and institutions, while conducting training workshops to diversify the pool of CPR data users.
- Promote regular dataset updates and enhanced data sharing to help develop ecosystem-based management plans.
