This project maintains USA support for the North Atlantic CPR survey.<\/p>\n<h4>Key highlights:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>The CPR survey is the world&#8217;s longest and most geographically expansive marine biological survey, routinely recording nearly 700 plankton taxa.<\/li>\n<li>Monthly CPR tows, spanning 15,000 km each month, are essential for understanding changes in marine ecosystems.<\/li>\n<li>NSF funding has enabled consistent sampling along transatlantic routes, with high-impact scientific publications resulting from this data.<\/li>\n<li>This project will maintain the CPR&#8217;s extensive observation system, preserving the integrity of its long-term database and supporting the logistics of operations, plankton analysis, and archiving.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By ensuring continued funding, the USA can deepen its understanding of the rapidly changing marine environment while supporting international collaboration.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/website.whoi.edu\/cpr-beams\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/10\/globe-routes.png\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/website.whoi.edu\/cpr-beams\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/72\/2024\/10\/globe-routes.png\" alt=\"Distribution of historical CPR samples for the Northern Hemisphere\" height=\"347\" width=\"347\" title=\"globe-routes\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\tDistribution of historical CPR samples for the Northern Hemisphere.
