Sophie Hines<\/h3>\n

Assistant Scientist<\/em><\/p>\n

Sophie joined the Marine Chemistry and Geochemistry Department at WHOI in 2021. She is interested in glacial-interglacial climate change and understanding the role of ocean circulation in major climate transitions using a variety of geochemical proxies in several paleoceanographic archives.<\/p>\n

Sophie got her BA in Chemistry from Carleton College in 2011, then completed a PhD in Geochemistry from Caltech in 2018. Before coming to WHOI, she was a Lamont Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University.<\/p>\n

Anastasia Zhuravleva<\/h3>\n

Marie Curie Postdoc Fellow<\/em><\/p>\n

Anastasia received her Doctoral degree from Kiel University in 2018 with a focus on the last interglacial climate. She was previously a postdoc at GEOMAR and Dalhousie University working on paleoceanographic reconstructions. In September 2023, Anastasia began a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship at WHOI and GEOMAR. More information on her postdoc project can be found on the Projects<\/a> page. Her main research interests include understanding past changes in the North Atlantic circulation and their impacts on climate, tropical-extratropical and interhemispheric climate teleconnections, and carbon cycling during the last interglacial.<\/p>\n

Victoria Silverman<\/h3>\n

Research Assistant II<\/em><\/p>\n

Victoria came to WHOI in May of 2023 as a Research Assistant with the Hines and Dunlea<\/a> Labs. Before starting at WHOI, Victoria received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of San Francisco. Outside of the lab, she can often be found dancing, cooking, crocheting, or spending time outdoors.<\/p>\n

Summer Student<\/em><\/p>\n

Josiah did a summer research project at WHOI in 2023 in the Hines and Dunlea<\/a> Labs. He studied the imprint of hydrothermal activity on the composition of sediments in the Southern Ocean.
